Blanket Exercise - Last one for Summer '17

  • KDFN POTLATCH HOUSE Whitehorse, YT Canada (map)

Are you looking to gain a deeper understanding on the history and relationship between indigenous peoples and Canada, and what reconciliation looks like? Youth for Lateral Kindness will be hosting one final public blanket exercise for the end of summer. This event is free, and is open to all indigenous and non-indigenous people.

It will be held at Nàkwät’à Kų̀ (KDFN’s potlatch house) on August 14th 2017 at 6pm.

The Blanket Exercise is a interactive learning experience designed to take you through the history of Canada from the indigenous perspective, something which was rarely taught in high schools. Blankets are laid out on the ground to represent the land, and participants will walk in the moccasins of the first peoples through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance.

This is a free public event, however due to some mature content we are asking for participants ages 12+
