before we became a business...
We were originally a part of the V2K (Violence 2 Kindness) Project, through our First Nations of Kwanlin Dun during the summer of 2016. Our nation wanted to make a difference. In an elders' council meeting, the elders realized that everyone in the community was being affected by lateral violence, including the youth. This led to the decision of starting a unique initiative where youth would teach other youth about lateral violence, the V2K Project.
Six KDFN youth joined the initiative, including ourselves, Teagyn and Aurora, which is actually how we met and became friends. As a group we got to create our own unique workshop specifically for youth, and learned how to facilitate the blanket exercise to include within our workshops. After the project's completion, we felt the need to continue with this important work, which led to the creation of Youth For Lateral Kindness.
