Walk in the moccasins of the first peoples through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization, and resistance. The Blanket Exercise is an interactive learning experience designed to broaden awareness about the history of Indigenous people and Canada. In this two* hour participatory workshop, blankets are laid out on the ground to represent the land; as the exercise progresses participants gain a visual representation of our history.

Ideally, the exercise is followed by a debriefing session in which participants have the opportunity to discuss the experience as a group. This often takes the form of a talking circle.

Due to the nature of the content, we ask our clients to provide a counsellor to be present for the duration of the event. If you need assistance finding a counsellor, please see our Self-Care section for resources.

Due to some mature content we suggest this workshop for participants ages 12 and up.

The cost to have us do a Blanket Exercise starts at $700 CAN and depends on how many participants we are facilitating to. Contact us for more information.

*The length of the Blanket Exercise varies.
